About Sonia
Hey there, I'm Sonia.
I'm a Counselling Psychologist and a NET qualified Assistant Professor. Sessions are held online and in person, in English, Hindi and Marathi.

I hold a Master's degree in Psychology with a specialisation in Clinical Psychology from Montfort College, Bangalore, and I have worked across therapy, teaching, supervision, and mental health education. Alongside my therapeutic practice, I have taught psychology at the university level, worked with counselling students, and explored ways of making psychological knowledge more accessible and meaningful beyond the classroom.
I believe people are far more complex than the problems they bring into a therapy room. I work with people navigating identity, relationships, self-worth, transitions, emotional overwhelm, family dynamics, and those quieter questions about who we are and what makes a life feel meaningful.
How I work
There isn't one right way to do therapy.
At the heart of my work is the relationship between two people: you, arriving with your experiences, and me, trying to understand them alongside you. We notice things together, get curious about what is happening, and, when you're ready, explore what might change.
I draw from Gestalt and ACT, alongside other evidence-based approaches, and shape the work around the person sitting across from me. Sometimes therapy might mean sitting with something that has been difficult for a long time. Sometimes it might mean noticing a pattern, questioning an old belief, making space for a difficult feeling, or figuring out what you actually want.
I work from a trauma-informed, feminist, queer-affirmative and neuroaffirmative perspective, while staying curious about the many things that shape a person's experience — family, culture, relationships, gender, power, work, uncertainty, and everything else that makes up a life.
You don't have to come into therapy knowing exactly what's wrong or having everything figured out. We can start from wherever you are.
A little more about me
Outside of psychology, I am a collector of hobbies and a believer in staying curious. I love working with ceramics, embroidery, music, singing with my ukulele, and finding creative ways of making sense of the world.
I speak English, Hindi and Marathi. And I remain convinced that most bad jokes contain at least one hidden gem.
More importantly, I believe that being a psychologist does not place me outside the human experience. I am a person sitting with another person, trying to understand what it means to be alive, in this particular life, at this particular point in time.
And perhaps that is where meaningful therapy begins.
